Modelling

Using techniques learnt from the official blender character animation tutorial: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:Tutorials/Animation/BSoD/Character_Animation

I have attempted to model Chun Li, however I am struggling and not really happy with my progress and think that maybe I should try and model a less complicated character.

Also I could not really find any front or side views for the character so I've had to improvise.

I think the head looks very ugly at the moment, and barely resembles a human let alone a specific character.

I haven't textured it properly, I just added colours to get more of an idea of what it would look like.

I spent quite a long time editing the head to improve it but I'm running out of ideas, It just doesn't look like how I would like.

More Ideas

I am considering attempting to model and animate 'Chun Li' from the 'Street Fighter' series of games.

I am a fan of the games and think it could be quite challenging to try and model this character.

I probably would not have time to texture her properly as I have not had any experience of UV mapping before.

Also it would be much easier to model if i could track down a front and side view of her to use as a framework.

For the animation of this character I could recreate some of her moves from the games or alternatively I could create walking, running or jump cycles.

My Idea

I am thinking of attempting to animate a character recreating the classic David Brent dance from BBC's 'The Office'.

Here is a link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kry53iHR7w

The actual footage of the dance is longer than 30 seconds and will probably be quite a challenge to do but I am a big fan and would enjoy trying to animate it.

Introduction to 3D Character Animation

For this module I will be modelling and animating a character whose movements are based on some real life footage.

I am hoping to concentrate on the body movements of my character rather than the facial expressions.

I am a fan of the disney-pixar cartoon style and plan on emulating this to some extent.
