Modelling the body continued...

I have further tweaked the body to try and correct some of the proportions.

Added detail to the chest, legs and back in particular.

Modelling the body continued...

I have tweaked the body and added some basic arms.

Something still doesn't feel right about the proportions though and I'm not sure what it is.

The face also I am not completely sure about, despite the large amount of time I have invested in it.

I will continue working on these features until I am satisfied though. I also intend to add fingers to the hands but not toes for the feet.

Modelling the body

To give myself a bit of a break from the head, I decided to give the body a go.

Using extruding techniques, a model sheet and some tweaking here is what I have so far.
I have only just started the body and it will obviously require a substantial amount of tweaking to make it look right but it was good to have a change from the head.
I haven't started the arms yet but they shouldn't be too difficult, I will just have to remove some vertices from the sides and extrude outwards.
I modelled the body according to a model sheet found on the internet from: www.conceptart.org
Once I have the basic proportions right, I can tweak the body more into the shape I want with proportional edit and possibly the sculpt tool.

Modelling Continued...

Continued the female head tutorial.

I am now halfway through the last video (5) and it's getting quite tricky. I have been using the sculpt mode in blender which I haven't used before which allows sweeping changes in the form of smoothing, grabbing, adding and subtracting.

Here is a screenshot of my head at this stage.

As I am not as experienced with this tool, I am struggling to keep up with the tutorial somewhat.
The rest of the development has just been more tweaking of the head by moving vertices's around subtly.
At this stage it is very time consuming and can be hard to see where the improvement is (if any), but I will finish the tutorial nonetheless.

Modelling Continued...

Continuing to model the female head from the tutorial.

It's taking some time to complete these turorials but I am pleased with how my model is looking. I have just completed the 4th of 5 videos and here are some screenshots of how the model has developed.

The 3 Sequences

For my 3 sequences I am planning on animating 3 of Chun-Li's special moves.

1. Spinning Bird Kick

2. Hyakuretsu Kyaku

3. Hazan Shuu

Here is a video link demonstrating all these moves and some more which I may use instead of these 3 if I change my mind.

Modelling techniques

The tutorial mainly teaches how to model to an image front and side view of a head starting from a cube and extruding.

Here is the image that is provided in the tutorial and that the head is modelled from:

The head and face are constructed originally from a cube which is extruded into the basic shape of a head.

Detail is then added gradually with extrude scaling of faces and knife cutting to get more vertices to move.

The shape of the head has to be tweaked over and over during the whole process to achieve a good shape.

After the first of the 5 videos you end up with a generic head that the tutorial suggests could be used to model almost any character. This is then saved seperately. This should prove extremely useful when modelling other characters as a basis to start from.

Modelling continued...

I continued on the model I was making last week but found I couldn't really fix it. I think that the way the turorial creates a character maybe isn't quite right for what I am trying to do so I have decided to try something else.

I have found another tutorial online which takes you through the process or modelling a fairly detailed female head which seems perfect.
www.vimeo.com/1160369 : This is a link to the first of 5 parts of the video tutorial and it has taken me around 3 hours to complete this and about half of the second one.
Here is what I have so far:

Set Solid: No subsurf

Set Smooth: Subsurf modifier

After the disappointment of my first model I am really pleased at how this one is going so far although there is still some way to go. I intend to complete the whole tutorial to finish the head and then create the body and animate it myself.
